Our Blood Donor Program

Our dedicated blood donor program is the backbone of our ability to save lives. Our feline heroes are part of an in-house adoption program. Our cats are adopted from local cat rescues and stay in the program for several years until they retire to a new forever home. Here they can bask in the reward of all the lives they saved.

Donor Qualifications

Age: 1-8 years (prime health years for donation)
Weight: Minimum 10 pounds (4.5 kg) to ensure safe donation volumes
Health Status: Excellent overall health with no chronic conditions
Vaccination Status: Current on all core vaccinations (FVRCP, Rabies)
Disease Status: Negative for FeLV, FIV, and other bloodborne pathogens
Medication: Not on any medications (except routine preventatives)
Temperament: Calm, friendly disposition that handles stress well
Lifestyle: Indoor-only to minimize disease exposure

The Donation Experience

Initial Screening
Complete physical examination
Blood typing (A, B, or AB)
Complete blood count (CBC) and chemistry panel
Infectious disease testing
Gentle sedation (when needed) for complete comfort
Sterile blood collection (takes about 10-15 minutes)
Careful monitoring throughout the procedure
Post-donation recovery with premium treats and cuddles
